Juan Jose Escovedo is the first born son of his father, Pete Escovedo. As a boy, following in his father's footsteps, Juan started playing percussion (bongos, congas, trap drums, timbales, percussion, and other instruments). When he turned 14, he began performing professionally with his father.

Juan gained recognition for his unique musical style which combines R&B, Pop and Latin Jazz.

Juan continues to tour and play in his father's Latin Jazz Orchestra. Additionally, he has recorded and performed with many artists including, Prince, Tony, Toni, Tone, Patti LaBelle, Lou Bega, MC Hammer, En Vogue, El DeBarge, Freddie Hubbard, Jody Watley, Barry White, Herbie Hancock, Teri Lynn Carrington, Lionel Richie, Bobby McFerrin, Tito Puente, Chingy and Amerie, Cheryl Lynn and his sister, Sheila E.

Juan has made special appearances in films such as JACK starring Robin Williams, CHASING PAPI starring Roselyn Sanchez and Jaci Velasquez, FORD FAIRLANE starring Andrew Dice Clay, and KRUSH GROOVE starring Run DMC, LL Cool J, and Sheila E. Juan also made a cameo appearance in Bobby Womack's video, "Save The Children".

Juan often performs with his own band, the Juan Escovedo Orchestra.
